St. Patrick’s Day: Tsavorites and all things green
March 16th, 2011 | No Comments »
St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow so I have been thinking about my other motherland. Although I am 50% Italian, I am very proud to be 23-37% Irish…or something like that. Perhaps my Celtic heritage has inspired some of my symmetrical and lacy designs present in the Principio Collection.
So what else does St. Patrick’s Day and all things green have to do with jewelry? There is always green gold and the most recognized green stone would be the emerald, which has gotten a lot of red carpet time the past few years (i.e., Angelina’s infamous Oscar earrings). And although they are gorgeous, emeralds are not the ideal stone for most jewelry. Because they are often heavily included (inclusions are internal natural imperfections), most emeralds are prone to breaking and require color treatment to even out color saturation. However, the chromium inclusion that colors the emerald also colors a more durable and affordable alternative: the tsavorite garnet (officially recognized as the grossularite garnet).

The natural and untreated tsavorite has a beautifully vivid green color and breathtaking brilliance. Even the smallest tsavorites have a gorgeous display of color. It is a tough stone that is perfect for all jewelry. Would you prefer the Principio Pendant or another piece with tsavorites? Email us at custom@noelleleone.com for more information.
The tsavorite is also thought to have healing powers that might come in handy after a day of celebrating. Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
